    The part of your house you own out to the street

    One pipe carries everything out of your house — from the basement, under the front yard, to the city main. Plumbers call it your sewer lateral, and it is yours all the way to the wye, the joint where it meets the city's main under the roadway. The City maintains its side. Everything up to that joint is yours to repair, at your cost.

    We put a camera down it once a year and tell you what we see. If it is clean, you get a report saying so and we leave you alone until next year. If it is not, you find out while it is still a scheduling problem rather than an emergency.
